Peet van Biljon

Innovation, Strategy and New Business Building

Peet advises clients on innovation, strategy, and business building. He focuses on Industry 4.0-related challenges and transformative technologies such as AI, digitization, fintech and IoT. Over his three-decade career he has worked for companies in South Africa, Canada and the United States, and has consulted to many companies world-wide.

He previously managed McKinsey’s global innovation practice from 2010 to 2015. Peet’s functional expertise includes innovation leadership, R&D, technology management, and new product development. He serves clients in all sectors but has particularly deep expertise in advanced industries (aerospace, defense and automotive), the industrial and high-tech sectors, and professional services. Peet is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, where he teaches a graduate course on innovation.

Peet authored a book on business ethics, Profit with a Higher Purpose, and has developed Ethics-driven Innovation®, an innovation process to help clients meet the highest ethical standards. His interest in ethics and background in technology have him deeply concerned about the application of powerful technologies like AI.  That is why he currently co-chairs the General Principles Committee of the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems (A/IS).

He is an electrical engineer, licensed as a professional engineer in Ontario, and has additional degrees in accounting and economics.

Peet enjoys spending time and travelling with his wife and two sons. Recently they went on their first family trip to Europe.

Wayne Gill

As a Strategic Information/Big Data Advisor, Wayne works with corporate, public sector agencies, nonprofits and foundations to help them define their intended impact as a strategic and measurable business initiative and to empower them with information to measure outcomes that demonstrate value and enable change makers to allocate resources more efficiently.

The challenges that most clients face is not that they need more information, but how to use the information they have.   Developing a results based metrics with accompanying measurement and evaluation plans can assess the effectiveness and efficiency of any initiative and create the maximum value, and innovate strategy accordingly.

Wayne has an accomplished career demonstrating consistent success in knowledge management and strategic information since 1992 and recently served as the Senior Strategic Information Advisor for the United Nations HIV & AIDS programme. He is an effective speaker and communicator with experience in presenting, teaching and facilitating a multitude of international trainings, workshops and conferences.

Wayne earned his PhD from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, and has experience working internationally in Botswana, Canada, Ethiopia, Grenada, Guyana Malawi, Mozambique, Netherlands Antilles, Sudan, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tobago Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Wayne and his family have undertaken many adventures around the world, including sailing across the Atlantic from the southern tip of Africa to the Caribbean in 43 days.

Doreen Harvey has practised as a human resource consultant for over fifteen years.  Doreen works closely with her clients to help align their human resources strategy to their business and organizational objectives.  She is particularly accomplished in HR strategic planning, developing performance management systems, leadership training, and has developed the required strategic programs and communication tools for her clients.

As Vice President, Human Resources and a member of the Senior Management Team at Sanyo Canada Inc., Doreen developed the HR strategy and related programs and played a key role in the redesign of the organization.  During her time with Nortel Networks, Doreen was involved in numerous change management initiatives, compensation and incentive program redesign and organizational restructuring.  Clients have included organizations in the fields of technology, manufacturing and consumer products as well as not-for-profit organizations.  Doreen has served on various Boards of Directors both as director and chair.  She has been a keynote speaker at leadership conferences and has had the opportunity to train leaders both in Canada and overseas.  Doreen’s work has taken her to Europe, Africa and North America.

Doreen holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree from The Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.   She is a member of the Strategic Capability Network.
